The "Sync" option is there, I think, for those who have at some point in the past, chosen Optimize Storage, however briefly, and forces a new sync of the items stored in the cloud and those on the Mac. Then those items can be shared across other devices through the cloud. Handy if you are a person who starts a document on an iPad, moves to a Mac and finishes on a different Mac, all shared through the cloud. But if the particular Mac has never been setup to do Optimization, or storage in the cloud, no need for a "sync" option as it has nothing to sync.</p></blockquote><p></p>
