Mb pro is dying;model 7,1 high sierra, backlight issue. Are there any external monitors for a machine that old?

This machine must have an HDMI port, in which case, any monitor will work. You don't need a special monitor.

Yes, old monitors still work. You will need an adapter. Either a Mini Display Port or Thunderbolt will work. Just look to make sure if you have a MDP that sometimes the audio was separate, if that matters.


It looks like it has the MDP with audio out.

can you recommend any brands and places? Not sure where to look. Maybe amazon has them? the machine has a mini display port. What do you mean "that sometimes the audio was separate, if that matters"? or what do you mean by 'audio out'?

In earlier model MBP, the MiniDisplayPort did not include audio out. So someone would have to use another cable to get the audio to a different display, if they wanted the sound with the display.
