Greetings. Yes, can you believe it? I made a mistake....

Whist viewing a post, I think, well, I know that I must have hit key which set me up to reply with quote from the OP.

I have nothing to add to the thread, and I wish to delete this potential post. But how?

It must be simple, but I can't figure it out, and I'm wary of 'accidentally' hitting anther button that I should leave alone...

Any and all advice welcomed. Thanks

That shouldn't be a problem. Posts don't actually get added to the thread until you hit the Post Reply button. The quote will stay in the reply window just in case you decide to use it later.

Or; you can click-to-highlight the whole message and hit Delete. That's what I do.

But one thing to note is that tomorrow or some other time when you visit that thread, your post will again appear. Do the same and delete it.

If you delete the text in the reply box, you can then select Drafts (floppy disk icon), then select Delete draft.

Ahhh, thanks, that's the part I was missing.

I sometimes change my mind about a reply I wrote, but just deleting the message doesn't do it.

By the way folks......

Nick covered this in a post some time back. Maybe we may need to create a sticky post about this and several other procedures for creating and editing a post.
