I dont have a mac os on it as I use linux mint 22. An apple article I read says that this does not have thunderbolt just mini display port but the connection is the same. I therefore ordered thunderbolt> hdmi cable and mini display>hdmi cable hoping one would work. Both cables arrived with the same connector and pin configuration? I had the same problem when I used mini display to a standard monitor as in mini display>hdmi didnt work either. I had to use vga connection from the mini display port using an adapter. Under display setting it only shows the regular built in display. I hope you can understand my garble.</p></blockquote><p></p>
