Midi keyboard help!

Hello!

Just bought my first iMac and I want to hook up a midi keyboard to it. I have a RadioShack MD-982 keyboard.. yes I know the POS edition. I recently purchased a midi usb interface off of amazon. The interface is working, the USB side is lit up but the midi side is dark. It's not picking up anything I play on GarageBand. But the Mac says "The number of MIDI inputs has changed." When I plug it in...

Help!

What type of USB/MIDI interface did you buy?
Did you get/download the latest drivers/software to use on your Mac?

I couldn't find any driver software for the keyboard. I don't think it's meant for this kind of use.
