Hi folks,

New to the forum - nice to be here.

I have a MacBook Air, 2017, running High Sierra (10.13.06). Recently purchased Office 2016 for Mac. Installation went fine except for a couple of problems:

When I try to set up Microsoft Outlook, I get the message, "You can’t use this version of the application “Microsoft Outlook” with this version of macOS. You have Microsoft Outlook 15.13.3." It's also got a line through the icon, as well.

Also, cannot seem to start OneNote 2016 for Mac. Keeps endlessly loading!

Any suggestions, greatly appreciated. Have to admit, my first Mac. Have been using Windows, I'm afraid, for a thousand years, and don't yet have a good grasp of all things Apple. But I'm trying! Haven't been able to figure either of these things out...

A warm welcome to Mac-Forums.

The latest version of Office for Mac 2016 is: 16.16.0. (18081201) released on 14 August 2018.

From your first post, it would appear that you need to initiate an update to get things working properly.

(This is usually found by opening any application within Office 2016, say Word, and on the top menu bar, click on Help and, from the dropdown, choose "Check for Updates").

Thanks, all...

So, the plot thickens: The version I downloaded is Office 15.13.3, and trying to manually install updates give me the message, "There are no updates available for your Microsoft software at this time. Check again later."

I've re-booted, and a little stumped. Any suggestions?

@pawprint1125:

Office version 15 is a version no longer supported by Microsoft. We have no idea how or where you downloaded this from but the message you received is correct. Office 15 was skipped over in the normal progression of Office releases.

Office 14 = Office 2011

Office 16 = Office 2016 (latest version)

Ugh! This was an electronic download on eBay from England - "lifetime updates," etc. Seemed legit! Except for the cheapo price...

I'll be removing this, and contacting eBay.

Thanks for your help on this. Not an auspicious way for me to start on this forum!

Bob, my Office365 is version 16.15. And there is an update to 16.16 as of this month that I haven't gotten yet.

Not an auspicious way for me to start on this forum!

Not a bit of it. Don't feel that way. We wouldn't exist if there weren't people in need of help. Assisting others is our raison d'être.

Moreover, others learn from the misfortunes of people like yourself.
