Microsoft eyes Google takeover
October 31, 2003 - 15:29 EST According to the New York Times, Microsoft approached Google within the last two months to discuss a partnership or the possibility of a takeover. Google, the popular Web search company, recently began holding meetings with bankers in preparation for its highly anticipated initial public offering (IPO).

My Comments: Hmm.. I hope they don't go in and wreck everything :( I love Google! :)

I hope that Google stays with a small public offering.

Sigh* those google ads would look less and less apealing every day.. Oh well.. as long as I get my $$ I won't mind.

Apple should think about making google an offer they can't refuse.. (though the best option yet is still stand alone.)

if microsoft gets it they plan on making it only available with Longhorn/Paladium.

That's what I read somewhere.

I don't see how Google would let that happen... If I knew that my brainchild was going to be used in that way.. there would be no way that I would sell it!

what ive read about Longhorn is that it is going to be focused on their .NET idea, where its code is focused more on a meta language and getting away from the WIN32 stuff in previous systems... the article was really vague though, and its all speculation im sure.

Graphite, you mightr want to change the name of one of your apps... Longhorn's UI - Avalon

If anything M$ would simply take the search engine technolgy out of google or copy it to make and integrate their own version into an O/S and probably keep google as a seprate company - simply due to the previous issues of M$ trying to take over the world.

This is how I see it. I have had enough of M$ want to rule the world. My first box was a win 95 puke :p and I was furious over the MSN e-mail inbox on the desktop that you couldn't delete. I found out how to delete it in the win registry :) though! I think Google is strong enough to keep M$ out -let them fix their security crap first before hogging more internet resources!

there is really no point of M$ tryin to take over AOL, specailly with time warren just buying AOL, second off all AOL is backing out of broadband internet and same is MSN as they were purchasing the broadband access threw us (verizon) and have now basically handed the customers over to us! Even if M$ did take over AOL you probably wouldnt notice much change....aol would still suck lol
