Adium was almost the solution for me. I have an older G5 Mac Power Mac, I have my scanner (a prosumer model, no new drivers) and MBox audio input hooked to it. When digitizing my vinyl record collection (turntable->receiver->MBox->G5(Pro Tools), I used to use a Bonjour audio chat with iChat -> Messages on a El Capitan Mac to monitor the progress and know when a side of an album was over. With High Sierra that is all broken, iChat <-> Messages don't audio chat over Bonjour any more. I'd really like to be able to monitor the G5's audio somehow from another mac or my iPhone. When you've invested in some expensive stuff seems a waste to just dump it and replace just because you've upgraded elsewhere.
