It seems unlikely but is there a method for creating an email which you can send to a large number of people where you can use the first name off the recipient taken from the spreadsheet as the data source.

I have tried Microsoft Word but unfortunately it doesn't work with Mac mail.

This seems so fundamental and I feel must be a way of doing it can anybody help?

Yours faithfully Frank

The Microsoft Word mail merge is designed to work with Excel. You mentioned Numbers (Apple iWork spreadsheet application) in your title or do you mean an Excel numbers spreadsheet?

I was referring to Numbers spreadsheet. A couple of years ago my Outlook got hacked so I stopped using it and switched from Windows to Mac. I now use Numbers and Pages and I am surprised there is no email merge facility and I was just posting to wonder if there just might be some way or some app that can do it. I can email to groups from Contacts but that can't be personalised e.g. Dear John etc.

Hope there is a way but so far its only outlook.

Thanks for your interest....Frank

Although Pages doesn't offer an easy way to do mail merge, there is a method that you can use with Pages and Numbers. Check out this article and link. Turn down your sound first... ;)

I must say I think it is a fundamental mistake for Apple to have left this feature out. Maybe they will think again.

I agree. However, as Apple improves the iWork suite perhaps they'll include mail merge. Let us know how the above suggestion works out for you.
