MBP 13 sound to pc soundcard, help?

If I take a 3.5mm audio(each end) cable from my mac to my pc soundcard. Sound should work, but would it carry 5.1 or just 2.1. If just 2.1, is there a way to get 5.1 surround sound?

Note: I have a soundblaster x-fi gamer and I also have a 5.1 set up from my pc.
