I have a MB right now and I love it, but I have decided to upgrade to a MBP when Leopard comes out. One thing I noticed last time I was at the Apple store was that the MBP keyboard is more like a traditional notebook keyboard versus the MB keyboard which has the keys spaced out and whatnot.

So anyone that has (or has extensively used) both a MB and MBP what do you have to say about the keyboards?

Honestly I prefer the MBP keyboard. It has more tactile feel and the backlit lighting is really handy in a darkened lecture hall and in the plane at night.

In my opinion, in the long-run, it doesn't matter to me. The first few days of adapting to a newer keyboard is probably a little annoying/hard for me, but after that, you adjust to it permanently. That's assuming that there isn't an inherent flaw in the design already.

I'm on a MB, and it's not bad. I switch between this and my PC at work, sort of a transition. I just ordered a new Logitech Keyboard/Mouse combo, so I'm going to be switching back to that. To me, in a while, the keyboards will be the same for me.

I see my comment above as a potential fire for an argument, so I would like to say that it's just my opinion :)

One thing that is cool about the MBP keyboard is the illumination, no doubt about it.

I haven't spent much time with MacBooks, but I really like the MacBook Pro keyboard. It seems to have much better feedback than almost any notebook keyboard.

I didn't like the keyboard on the MBP; it looks and feels really cheap (though the backlight is cool), but I haven't used it extensively so I can't really comment on how good or bad it is.

I prefer the look and feel of the MB keys, but again I haven't used one for any length of time, so I dunno what it's really like to use.

I plan on using a USB keyboard with my MBP at home anyway (I'm not keen on any laptop keyboards... a bit to small and "mashed in" for my liking).

I sure like the MB's keyboard for its unique design (even Sony has already copied it on their TZ notebook series). However, IMHO, I believe the MBP's keyboard is more elegant and does not imply cheapness in anyway. Apple has certainly done a great job on differentiating their products which are projected at different consumer markets.

The MB might have a nice design but in my opinion it is not practical. I feel a little lost on that keyboard.

If I had a choice I would choose the MBP keyboard 100 times out of a 100.

Not practical??? Lost? how do you figure?

Its like a normal keyboard but has a 1mm space in between...? :S

I havent used the MBP keyboard yet, but from what i hear its very comfortable....the backlight helps too. ;)

Gotta admit though, i love my MB :)

Just one question for all of you that are praising the backlit keyboard, this is a serious question, I'm not being sarcastic. Do you guys know how to type? Because it seems to me that if you know how to type, it shouldn't matter if the keyboard was lit or not. You know where the keys are based on where your hands are.

One thing I find is working in the dark. When looking at the screen and at a dark keyboard you will find it takes a second for your eyes to adjust, a little annoying. With the backlight there is no adjustment time. In my opinion.

This feature is just like adding an extra cup holder in the car. Just makes the car more comfortable but doesn't change the operation of the car.

Just my two cents.

Even the most proficient typists make mistakes; and it's a lot easier to make mistakes on a notebook keyboard.

The backlight isn't essential, otherwise it would be on every keyboard; but it's a nice feature to have.

Well i gota comment on this.

I have a MBP C2D 2.16Ghz and the keyboard is amazing.

Its very responsive and very comfortable to use, and the fact that its back lit is jus brilliant!

I am surprised because i use the back light more than i thought i would when i switched.

you know this is totally a personal pref. but since my sister has a macbook and i have a pro ive been around both alot. See, the macbook keyboard is like a square and its just straight to touch, and the pro have this concave like shape....kinda like a finger temper pedic (???)

Gee i must sound rediculous right now. but go to a store, try out both..youll see (might) what i mean ;)

The Macbook keyboard is kind of a toss-up. You either love it or hate it. Or rather, most people are either in one of the camps. Lots of people love it, and are looking forward to a rumored iMac keyboard that looks pretty much like a Macbook keyboard in external form.

I use the internal keyboard of my Macbook when I'm at work, but prefer to use the bluetooth external Apple keyboard at home. I don't have a real problem with the internal keyboard, just a preference. I can use the Macbook keyboard when necessary, but given a choice I'll use an external of some kind.

I like my MB keyboard. TBH the MBP keyboard doesn't do it for me. Does anybody else hate the Apple keyboard?
