I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this. But since last evening (2/22/10) I've been getting Malware warnings from the "mac2sell" website.

I've tried to go to the site with three different computers...and keep getting the same Malware warning. I of course do not continue to the website just in case something is going on with it.

Just an FYI...

Yea, I wouldn't worry about Mac2Sell. Just don't do anything stupid like give away credit card info on it.

I've never gotten a Malware warning for the Mac2sell website before...and I go there quite a bit (usually at least once/day)...and after trying to go there on 3 different computers...I don't want to take the risk of actually entering the website.

I know that Mac's are more "tolerant" of such things...but after seeing the hassles my wife has been through with her Windows laptop & Malware...it just isn't worth it.

I was basically wondering if anyone else is getting this Malware warning...or if for some reason it's just me.:(

Which browser are you using? The malware warning is more of a function of the browser than the OS you are running..

This is what I get when I visit the site with Chrome on my WinXP machine at work..

Note the warning says that Mac2sell includes content from ANOTHER site that might be host malware (might have been compromised)..so by association you're being prevented from visiting mac2sell..perhaps someone should let the site owner know..

Regards

Thanks for posting that image. Safari gives a very similar warning.

Be interesting to chase up with mac2sell Nick. The warnings have been about for just on two years and macs2sell claimed it was hackers attacking their web site.

Why? Are you one who feels a Power Mac G4 Digital Audio is worth $450 like some are trying to get on Ebay? I just paid $25 for one and about what it's worth.

EBays prices on a lot of the older Macs are WAY too high for what the machine can do.

Wow, just checked my now 39 month old MBP and mac2sell says it's still worth $950.

Unbelievable.

Exactly!!! Unfortunately when I see an old G4 I'm interested in (on say Craig's List), and the seller is asking some insane price. I sometimes try to convince them what the G4's real value is...but then I get called every bad name in the book.

Talk about insane. Within the past 2 days...I saw a 1999 333mhz iMac with 32 meg of ram (32 MEG!!!)...the seller was asking $250 bucks!!!

Mac2Sell says it's worth $30 bucks...and I've already gotten much better 600mhz iMacs wth 512meg of ram for $10 bucks!

Ooh well,

I am not trying to put down the older Pre Intel Macs but they just are not worth some of the prices people are asking on Ebay any longer. NO more support from Apple, and Software slowly going Intel only.

Bob, I am not to shocked at the worth of your MBP as it's an Intel and Macs always have held their value for a long time.

Pigoo, I bought that same iMac G3 333Mhz Grape 4 1/2 years ago for $100. It was in great shape but soon after developed the POP POP and then total loss of picture as the Flyback Transformer shorted. I got the part new for $35 and it still works! :D

I am not surprised it's only worth $30 today though. After all it's a G3! :D

$250 for 333Mhz - that's a sucker's machine there.

Just sold one of my homebuilt rigs about 4 months ago for $250.
P4 o/c'd to 3.9Ghz, ATI X800 XT, 5.1 computer sound system with two spare optical inputs, SB Platinum card, video capture card, dual DVD burners and a 20" LCD. That was my 2003 gaming rig - of course not the original video card - the 9800 was king when it was built. The case and PS alone cost $300 back then and the 1 GB of RAM that went in it originally able to handle the o/c was $350.

According to that site, mine is worth less than half, $900.00

One of my iMac G3's is starting to get the "POP POP":

- how difficult is it to replace that transformer?
- did you use a new or used replacement transformer?
- if new...where did you get it?

Yeah...$30 is all they are worth. I know a "dealer" of sorts here in town who sells them for $65. Everything's relative. If a 933mhz G4 tower with a 40gig HD & 512meg ram is worth only $40 bucks (just looked it up)...then a MUCH slower iMac G3 can't be worth more.

Sure the iMac G3 is "cuter"...and has the "all in one" design...so I guess that is worth something!;)...I have three of them!:)
