Malware in Chrome on macbook pro

I am getting pop ups that started recently. I've tried to remove the malware/pop up ads and I haven't been able to.

This seems to only effect Chrome, no other browsers.

I've seen programs to remove this but I don't know what's safe. Can anyone help?
