Mail won't get new mail

Mail won't download new messages from my Yahoo account. I'm using a MBP with OS X 10.10, Early 2011, 2.7 GHz i7, 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3. The incoming mail server is imap.mail.yahoo.com, and I'm unable to change it to pop to see if that makes a difference."imap.mail.yahoo.com" under account information is in grey, whereas everything else is in black and therefore changeable. Any ideas?

Whenever I have had problems with mail which is more often than not I have found the best thing to try is delete the account and then add it again. Pop is always a problem.

Canceling the account and recreating it worked. Thanks
