Woke up this morning to discover error messages regarding all three of my Earthlink e-mail accounts. The little triangle with the exclamation point. I worked through as far as Mail Connection Doctor, which shows successful connection and login to SMTP on all three, but it's not connecting the IMAP on any of the three. Error message states:

Could not connect to this IMAP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, deselect the "Use TLS/SSL" checkbox in the Server Settings tab of Accounts preferences.

I'm not sure what this means. I didn't change anything in Account preferences.

I'd be grateful for your guidance. Thanks.

Have you restarted your Mac?

1) Is this problem on my end or should I call Earthlink?

2) Would running Disk Utility do any good?

If you can do other things in the Internet, it most likely is not on your end.
Yes, call Earthlink.
No, DU probably won't make any difference. You are not having a disk problem.

Just called. They said it was a server problem. Others reported also. Wait 24 hrs. They also said that they would call me back because apparently they have a different procedure for my iPhone.

The problem is intermittent. I'm not going to sweat this yet.
