I updated to El Capitan in December and have the most current update. From the time that I updated my MacBook Pro at first I could not send on any of my accounts including iCloud. I have one iCloud email, one Gmail and 3 addys with HostGator. I checked all passwords, reset and updated all passwords, checked spelling, rebooted my computer. I even had to have my MacBook reset by the Apple Genius bar back to Yosemite for another problem and re-install El Capitan from scratch. This solved my other problem but not the email. At this time the iCloud address works for receiving and sending but none of the others work for sending. Each attempt gives me the message that the Outgoing Server is not found. All are set for IMAP. On my iPad 2 and my iPhone 6 Plus all email accounts work including Gmail. It has to be a glitch with El Capitan. Note: I run Norton Internet Security on my MacBook.
