I email a lot of jpegs via "Mail" and find that although I attach them correctly the recipient often only receives a picture embedded in the email and not accessible as an attached file. Is there anything I can do about this? I am using Maverick on an IMac

Make sure you are sending "Windows Friendly" attachments per the instructions on this page.

How mail is received is up to the receiver. You cannot control it. A picture embedded can usually be saved by right clicking and choosing to save the image. I've been sending pictures to my Windows-using friends with no problems.

I'm with Jake on this one.

On the rare occasions my recipient has had a problem, I've put the JPEG images into a Folder on my desktop. Then, from within the email message, clicked on Attach and selected the folder. The recipient usually finds the Folder as an attachment which he/she can deal with more easily.
