Hello everyone,

Mail is my main email app, but it has not been able to connect to my iCloud email account the past few days; I keep getting the following error:

"Connections to the server “p41-imap.mail.me.com” on the default ports timed out."

However, I have no problem connecting with Spark and Airmail. Additionally, I noticed that I cannot access Mail through iCloud either (it just times out).

I am running OS 10.12.3 and everything has been updated.

Good Morning

I am including some Links which may solve your problem.

The first thing to try is to turn Mail off, then on in System Preferences > iCloud.

If this doesn't work, you could try signing out/signing in to iCloud.

Failing that, I think you will possibly have to delete/re-establish your iCloud email account.

Details of all these options are in the Links:

Please post back.

Thanks for the help Ian. I tried everything that you recommended, but nothing worked. I spent over an hour with Apple Care today and they couldn't fix the problem. I really want to use the Mail app, but I am using Airmail until I can figure this problem out.

Thank you for posting back.

I'm so sorry that you've been stuck with this problem. If my simple suggestions & links didn't help and Apple Care are similarly at a loss, then we can only hope that other Forum members may chime in with their offerings.

Update:

My case was forwarded to another department and they were able to solve it. It had something to do on their end, but I'm happy to report that I can now use my Mail app again. Quick funny story: the people at Apple said that they really wanted to fix this because they prefer that I use their apps instead of other email apps. I didn't really expect to hear that from them; I guess they grudgingly allow other apps to be used, but much prefer it if we use their apps. As a joke, I told them that if they updated the look and feel of Mail, I believe most people would start using it more. They chuckled but then they thanked me for my feedback.

Thanks for helping me out, Ian.
