Can someone tell me why my Mac mail gives me the error message "Unable to delete message" when trying to ? This happenss on my phone as well.

Does it happen with all emails? How is your email account configured? What version of iOS are you using?

OS 7.1.2 and it does happen with all emails.
SMTP with SSL enabled is all I know about the configuration.

I just happened to have run into a problem like this with a lady here locally. Turned out the issue was that she'd inadvertently set it up as an Exchange account rather than POP.
We deleted the account, set it up again properly, bingo magico.
