Hello all-

My 20" iMac from a couple years ago recently a problem with the logic board and the cost to fix could equate buying a whole new iMac. I've wrote it off as done. Sooooo....

Im looking into getting either a used MacBook or a used PowerBook for working from home & on the road. Im currently budget strapped, baby on the way, cant do any sidejobs from home & employer highly frowns on using their machines for that.

Im trying to do some research on the pros & cons of both machines. I am a graphic designer / halfassed-photographer and I still have a student CS2 Creative Suite at home, so whatever used machine Im looking into needs to be able to run CS2, ie. OSX 10.4 -ish.

Any help, thoughts, insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If they're the same price, always go with the macbook. Much faster, and still supports the latest OS and software.

If that is a main concern for you then might want to think about the PowerBook. I don't believe CS2 was made for Intel Macs. You can use Rosetta to run it on an Intel Mac but the performance is going to be slower than you are used to.

CS2 will run fine on an intel, I've tried it.

That's good to hear. If CS2 also works in 10.5 Leopard and 10.6 Snow Leopard then the OP will have a broader range of Macs to choose from.
