MacBook Questions

Hi, folks --

I have been a PC user my entire computing life, and am pretty close to switching over to Mac. I couldn't exact list the reasons why ... it's kind of like a strange calling. I use them a lot more often now, and I think I like them a lot better, despite not being able to right click.

As a professional Web developer who also happens to be in school for communication, the Adobe Web Bundle is a big decision maker for me. From what I understand, CS2 won't be updated for the Intel chips and the CS3 release is slated for sometime between April and when **** freezes over.

I wouldn't mind purchasing a state-of-the-art machine and running things through Rosetta, provided there's no major performance issues. Some people in the Mac store have told me it runs slightly faster than a G4, some have told me its slower, and some have told me it will crash altogether. Since I can get the student discount on the Web bundle, I wouldn't mind shelling out the cash again for CS3 next year (are you allowed to sell old programs on eBay? hehe), provided CS2 will actually work. And by work, I mean, actually run quickly.

Is there somebody out there that has actual experience that can provide me with some guidance?

(Also -- if anyone has any tips on moving your iPod over from PC to Mac, that would rock too. Oh, and my PC-fan friends will kill me. Suggestions on dealing with people of the XP persuasion would be greatly appreciated as well)

Moving the songs from PC to Mac is a doodle. I don't know where you store your songs but mine were on an external hard drive.. I just connected it to MBP and then opened ITunes , then chose add to library and selected the target hard drive (external).

At the end of the day mp3 ad mp4 coded songs are universally recognised. The only problem you will come across will be the wmv extensions where apple doesn't recognise the format.

Hi there --

Thanks for the reply. Any idea on what to do with WMVs? I ended up buying the MacBook and I LOVE it. I did run into the WMV problem though. I guess the best thing to do would be to convert them all?

Download Flip4Mac. It lets you play WMV in quicktime and has browser plugins

Yep...i'm bringing it back from the dead. At least i used the search :D. I am having the same issue as above. Tons of music on a external, but they are WMV extenstions. What is the best way to get them into itunes? I really don't want to have to sit here and convert all 17GB into mp3. need some suggestions.
