i never noticed this ever before but the console on my mbp is running constantly and things seem to hang frequently..beachball all the time--slow and unresponsive but does things when it wants-- :(

Your MBP is capable of running 8GB of memory. An increase from 2GB would work absolute wonders. Also how much free space on the hard drive?
