The problem is somewhere else - half of the files in my iTunes library have apostrophe in them, and OS X is perfectly happy with that: Nor is there any problem displaying / recognising files with apostrophe in the file name. In fact the default name, suggested by OS X for user library is Name's Library (as in first Name). For experiment sake, I just tried to add a number of obscure characters to the above screenshot file name and, again, OS X has no problem displaying it: Perhaps with a bit more information on your system, etc someone can suggest a solution...
How is your media drive is formatted? Have you tried to create a file on your MBP with apostrophe in it?
There's no leading dot (full stop) at the beginning of the file name(s) in question, right? That's how OS X defines a hidden / system files, but you can enable their viewing by pressing ⇧ ⌘ . (full stop), not that I think it's a good idea at this stage ;D
