MacBook Pro stuck in loading screen

Hey

my MacBook Pro osx 10.7.5 is stuck in the loading screen since yesterday.
I haven't done anything, suddenly it didn't want to start up. I already tried to start it in safe mode, but all I got from it was this

idk what it is and what kind of password it requires.
The laptop is older than three years, so i guess that there is a problem with the hard drive...

It's waiting for the admin user password to be entered in that blank rectangle in order to enter Safe Boot Mode.

Did you purchase that machine new or was it used when you bought it? That screen doesn't look like it's asking for your Admin password. It resembles the screen that appears when a firmware password is required.

You're correct chscag, it does appear to be the Firmware Password Login screen, and just waiting for the password to be entered.
