macbook pro shutting down error code -60 HELP!!!

not sure if i posted in the right forum but!

I've been having a problem with my macbook pro shutting down in the blink of an eye out of nowhere.(this only happens when the charge isn't plugged in) I've run a diagnostic check and everything checked out okay but i looked today in my logs and saw this

Oct 15 04:54:57 Macbook-Pro-4 kernel[0]: Previous Sleep Cause: -60
Oct 15 04:54:58 Macbook-Pro-4 kernel[0]: Previous Shutdown Cause: -60

i searched the code and found this:
-60 badMDBErr bad master directory block

any ideas on how to fix this? please help BTW I'm out of warranty

im not running snow leopard. i just saw that it required 10.6 or higher im using 10.5.8

With a bad directory block - you need to repair the drive.

I would suggest running fsck instead of running repair from the original install disc.

i ran the /sbin/fsck -fy and at the end it said everything is okay should i run this when it shuts down on its own or would it not matter, or should i try the disc before i run onyx?

Some of it is fairly automatic (ie the Smart Check). Also, if you go to Onyx Help on the menu it has more info.

My personal recommendation until you've had time to check the app out to find everything is just head for the Automation tab. Check off everything in the Cleaning and Maintenance sections.

Oh, and you're not on Windows any longer... you shouldn't need to use Onyx but once every 2-3 months or so. I only use it when I start noticing slow downs on my machine instead of the once a week habit I brought with me from Windows.
