MacBook Pro Ram Config (MD101)

So i have 4GB of ram at the moment in my MacBook Pro Mid 2012 .If i buy this ram (8GB) will i be able to take out one 4GB module and insert a 8GB to replace the 4GB making The total ram 10GB? And is this ram compatible Patriot Signature DDR3 8GB 1600MHz SODIMM (PC3 12800) PSD38G16002S at Amazon.com

According to Mactracker your machine takes this type of memory and quantity:

Maximum Memory 16 GB (Actual) 8 GB (Apple)
Memory Slots 2 - 204-pin PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM

Instead of doing what you propose.... I would purchase two 8 GB modules and use that instead for a total of 16 GB. Using one 2 GB module and one 8 GB will work but it's always advisable to use memory in matched pairs for maximum speed and efficiency.
