macbook pro hardware problem

Hi,

I'm a new user to Mac, and I have recently just bought a macbook pro. Three days after I received the computer, the computer has failed as it freezes everytime I start it. Moreover, when I check the computer more closely, I realised that the sides of the screen doesn't close nicely when I close the computer--the 2 sides flings slightly upward from the lower half ( about 2-3 mm). Also, the right hand side of the keypad side( the CD drive side) is clearly lower than the other half. I took the computer for a replacement, and when the new computer arrives, to my dissapointment, the same thing appears for the screen when I closes the computer: the 2 sides of the screen flings up. Is this something common for apple computers, or it's just my continuous bad luck to receive 2 computers that couldn't close nicely? I just couldn't believe the famous apple computers could have such a basic hardware problem of the screen not being able to close well when all the PC notebooks I used before never had such a problem.

I know my description above may sound confusing, but I've been trying to investgating it myself too, and it would be pretty impossible for the power of my hand to make the screen fling up. Besides, I just received the new computer yesterday, and the flinging up of the 2 sides of the screen is the first thing I saw right when I open the box. Should I take it back to apple again for a check up, or it's just normal for a mac?

personally im having a bit of a hard time trying to picture that...can you maybe take a pic and post it??? ive heard of the latch not catching on right because its a new magnet latch...but i don t know :S

It is normal. All 4 MacBook Pros I have had, had the lid arc up at the ends to varying degrees. Apple will not replace it unless the lid won't latch.

Eh, I have not seen a laptop(Mac or PC) that closes fully.
