I have had this 15" A1286 since new. I have had one battery expand out so far it broke the touch pad (I heard about others) Recently the computer while in use became so hot that I couldn't keep it on my lap nor could I keep my hand on it. I had shut it down, and the next day it will not turn on. It is completely DOA, no beeps, no lights etc. I'm suspecting the processor as it really got hot enough to melt things. Is this older unit worth having it checked out and repaired or simply try to sell it off for parts.

Thx

- Fan/fans may not be working?
- Could be clogged with dirt/fuzz?
- Heatsink thermal paste could be bad?

Don't know until it's inspected.
