HI, ive had my unibody Macbook since 2008 and its still going strong.
The only problem is the battery doesnt last very long and keeps displaying a service battery warning.
ive tried running it down and recharging it to no avail.
So its time for a new battery. They`re around £100 from Apple the last time i looked.
Ive seen quite a lot of aftermarket batteries for around half that, are they worth it or should i stick to an original?
Your experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Folks have had mixed experiences with lower cost battery's. Some good experiences...some not as good. If you can get one cheap...you can always try it...and see if it meets your needs (not a lot of £££ risk).

We generally suggest to folks to get a replacement battery from OWC (MacSales.com). But if you are in the UK...this may not work for you (shipping & VAT).

I think that it pretty much comes down to...you get what you pay for. ;)

Thanks for the reply. Thats kinda what i was thinking.
Im not desperate for a battery as i mainly use it near a power source.
As my Macbook is 6 years old, rather than spending money on it, im considering buying a new one. Went to the Apple store today, very tempted......
Need to rob a bank.

I thought that the Apple Stores were banks!! ;)

FWIW: I replaced the battery in my late 15" 2007 MBPro last year through a reputable seller via the amazon.ca comments and it's working well. And landed cost was about 1/3 of what Apple charges and the one I got was even a slightly higher mAh rating than the Apple units.

I avoided the super cheap - too good to be true batteries. ;)

Good fit and good capacity for a decent price.
