Hey guys, My girlfriend has Macbook that she got around Christmas 2006. Recently her magsafe adapter broke and the battery completely drained. The problem appeared after she got a new adapter. The battery is no longer found.
I thought that the problem might be what is outlined in the following link so i followed those steps, but nothing was fixed.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1119
I also tried to follow the steps on this page, but they did not help either.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1457
I was thinking that maybe she has one of the defective batteries, as outlined here http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/, and that it just coincidentally popped up after her batter was fully drained.
Does anybody know what what i should do from here? Should i just call apple support? I'm not really sure who to call, or if i can call since its not my laptop. What information would I need on hand if i call apple? I know her laptop is out of warranty but the previously linked page said the warranty was extended for defective batteries.
My other option is to drive over an hour down the interstate to the closest apple store and try to see if one of the geniuses can give me a hand. Would this be easier than deal w/ customer support over the phone? I ask because it would be a day trip to go down there and i would hate to waist the time, effort, money, and gas, if it's something easily accomplished over the phone.
Any input on what i should do? Are there any "fixes" that i may have missed?
This is what i get for my battery status.
I just want to get this taken care of, I know if i leave it up to her she will be running on AC power for the rest of her life. : / Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Lucius
