Macbook Air - How to set up the resolution of 3840 x 2160

Hello,

I have an MacBook Air mid 2012

2 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB

I have a 34 inch monitor and now I have the resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and I can't go higher from settings.
At the 1920 x 1080 the image is blurred.

Anyone knows how to set up the resolution for 3840 x 2160 ?

The maximum external resolution your MacBook Air can support is 2560 x 1600 pixels. So you can see that regardless of which adapter you use, your MBA can not support that high of a resolution (3840 x 2160). And yes, any resolution other than the native one will cause blurring or distortion.

Then how can I use my external monitor? if I go 2560 x 1600 is way too small the left side and right side is cutted.

Also I have 960x540 HiDPI which everything looks very good but the text and windows are too big.

In order to use that external monitor with a Mac, you will need a much better and later model Mac. The new MacBook Pro models and iMac can handle that high a resolution, but your MacBook Air can not. Sorry, but there is no way around that.

You might want to try a software solution so you can use that monitor without distortion. Try "SwitchResX".
