Hi guys!

I inherited a MBA 2011 that has 568 charge cycles logged and a "Service Battery" notice.

Should I go to the apple store for a replacement? I don't have apple care and don't want some added cost they didn't mention above the $129.

OR

Should I buy online and replace myself? Any brand suggestions?

Added some pics for context.

Thanks!!

*Forgot to mention* It charges slowly and dies quickly.

That particular model may be considered vintage by Apple (early 2011 models are all vintage) which means they likely do not stock a battery for it. Later on (June 30) other 2011 models will be put on the vintage list.

You can find quality batteries at www.macsales.com and www.ifixit.com. Of course there is also eBay.

So it's mid 2011, but even if it's not technically vintage--they probably won't have the battery, right? Ok, thank you! And thank you for the links, I really appreciate having somewhere to look!
