I have installed 3 batteries for a customer from 3 different companies into a Macbook pro, the first 2 went from 80 percent to 6 percent and where no good. I then bought from another company and its fine with lite use but as soon as photography apps are used its heavily used it just closes down straight away. When you turn it back on it sill has battery percentage. Could it be a motherboard issue or Can anyone advise what else it could be?

I have installed loads of batteries and never come across this in 10 Years

all batteries have been calibrated

thanks Jon

Batteries other than the one Apple supplies are generally inferior. We usually recommend buying a battery from www.macsales.com if an Apple replacement is not available.

Having noted that... it does sound like there is a problem that is affecting the battery. Could be a defective MagSafe board (DC input board) or bad SMC on the logic board. Swapping out the MagSafe board is not difficult nor expensive. However, if that doesn't cure the problem, you're looking at possibly a new logic board.

And by the way, it would be more helpful to give specs on the MacBook Pro that you're working on.

Thanks

details are Macbook Pro retina 15 inch Mid 2014 , 16 GB 2.5 GHZ I7

we have now realised the the CPU is running really high and its getting very hot and switches off when on battery

when its first boots the CPU can go up to 99c for a minute until calming down

I have put new paste in the CPU but hasn't made a difference

the customer runs a lot of photo apps one which pushes it quite hard, one called 'capture one 21' and it cuts out when running these on the battery but not on power but again temp runs high on CPU

any help would be great
