Is it possible to use HD6950/ HD6970 as my display card in Mac Pro 4,1?
I'd like to use them on Mac OS 10.7 & Windows 7 both.

Thanks. :)

Normally you need a graphics card that is specifically Mac-compatible due to the use of EFI, from what I understand. There is no Mac-compatible version of the HD6950 though I have read that it may be possible to get it to work by flashing the BIOS with the ROM from the 6970. There is no Mac-compatible version of the 6970 either. Also… even if you got them to work, they may not perform optimally under OS X due to lack of driver support.

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Suggest going with the 5770 range of cards. On ann older Mac Pro with 2.66GHz Quad Core X5355 processors, find the HD4870 with 1GB memory worlds a treat in both Lion and Windows 7 Ultimate through Bootcamp.
