I was pretty much a I-hate-mac guy until my sister's comp. crashed... spur of the moment i bought a new macbook. so far it has crashed on me a lot.

Safari is just THE BEE'S KNEES. normal websites will just cause it to crash and make me send a report to apple. so far at least 2-4 times a day...

Also, iChat is not letting me connect with video. One way or two way. At first it just had an error. I upgraded Safari to the newest beta and now it says I am not responding...

I switched to mac to avoid problems.. now i have more problems than before. I'm loving my Mac though, I have had previous experiences with Mac, pretty good ones. But i'm not sure what is wrong. I have ran the Apple update also.

Help?

Is it only Safari crashing? If you try FireFox, does it have the same problems?

What programs are open in Activity Monitor? Have you tried Safri with no other programs open at all?

Maybe something is messed up with the caches. Try running MainMenu's batch maintenance scripts.

Is that program any better than the Maintenance 3.1 that came with my Powerbook G4? I made a copy of the 3.1 program and put it on my MacBook Pro and have been using it for a while.

I would not consider moving from a stable version of Safari to a Beta version and upgrade. If it were me... I'd move back to the stable version, then use MainMenu or Onyx to clean caches, general maintenance etc. (*Both of which are free)

Don't you follow any of the Mac software that's being released lately? Beta is the new 1.0, alpha is the new beta, and scribbles on a napkin is alpha. ;)

I'd avoid the Safari beta if you're looking for stability - it's still quite rough around the edges and will cause more problems than it'll solve.

Use the uninstaller that came with it if you'd like to remove it.

I only know that it breaks a couple of our applications that depend on the Webkit framework, but your mileage may vary :)

My video chat experiences with iChat have been lackluster. After a series of messing around with ports, my friends and I were able to achieve a 3 way conversation, granted the quality wasn't all that great.
