I also have a late 2009 Mini (Mac Mini3,1) with heat issues. Using SMCFanControl I was able to pitch my fan up and keep the processor around 140 degrees (im a video editor and do a lot of processor intensive tasks). Since upgrading to 10.8.2 it seems SMC does not control the fan and while rendering video my temp skyrockets up to 203F. I have a small desk fan on my machine now and got it down to 185F but this seems very hot to me. I'm hoping its just false readings due to the osx upgrade. Are there any other apps out there to control the fan (or something in terminal i can do)? I also have another app installed called iStatsMenu while can also control the fan. That did nothing either so I turned off the fan control and tried SMC. I can't really afford a whole new machine (or trust me, id have a Mac Pro by now) and I definitely cannot afford down time due to overheating processors. Does anyone have any advice?
