yep. it uses an online tv guide that you set to your current cable channel line up. there's a button you click for a show you want to record (it downloads a batch file on your computer that turns the software on to record), and you can also set it to record daily or weekly or whatever. it's really pretty neat, but we don't really need it anymore since we just got a new tv for the bedroom.
