Okay, so here is my problem:

I wanted to reformat or reinstall Tiger on my MacBook... DISC 1 installed all the way through...but DISC 2 STOPPED installing through the iWork '06 Trial

DISC 2 has scratches on it...

I ordered the Mac Box Set with Snow Leopard hoping it would fix it but when I popped in the Snow Leopard Disc it spit it back out... HELP!

The screen is stuck on "Needs Disc 2... etc."

Please help me with this! Anyone! Thanks!

If you are doing a clean install, then firstly put your Tiger disc in, go to utilities>disc utility and erase the HD completely, then you should be able to install Snow Leopard no problem. The reason you can't is because the Macbook is looking for the next part of Tiger to install.

That's the problem too. When I insert the Installation Disc 1 it won't show the utility options - it's 'grayed out' It keeps asking for Disc 2.

Put the disc in and reboot holding "C". That should bring up utilities for you.

Hmm, very odd, could be. Trouble is now, without an OS you can't try a cleaning disc for the drive either.
Do you have access to another Mac at all? I only ask because you could try target disc mode.
Alternatively, an external firewire drive could be used.
Does it spit the SL disc out without any warning?

I have a MacBook Air... but no firewire there as you know. :Angry-Tongue:
I'll probably just have to take it to the Genius Bar. I don't it's just irritating!

Blast Apple and the lack of Firewire.
Genius bar may not really be able to do much without taking the Mac in either. That means expense.
Try some careful cleaning of the second Tiger disc (there are some good threads on the web about how). This may get you to a point where you can at least finish the install of Tiger.

I am confused.

In your previous thread you mention a MacBook
http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/os-x-operating-system/195097-macbook-installation-discs-dilemma.html
and you confirmed you downloaded the OS from a torrent.

In this thread you mention the MacBook Air, and a problem with disks, where the MacBook Air does not have a superdrive. ( only as an option )

Are we now talking about 2 different machines where you have the same problem with.

Maybe I missed something.

Cheers ... McBie

I hadn't seen that thread. Now that is confusing!

Try inserting the Snow Leopard DVD, reboot holding down the option key- see if that allows you to select the SL disc. Reboot twice after it's been inserted if you need to.
