I have a new Mac Book Pro 15" w/Retina display Model A1398 and looking for a hard shell case to protect it from scratches. I've been looking on the internet...but want suggestions on what Brands should I look at or stay away from?

There really aren't that many brands. Two that I know of & are familiar with are Speck and iPearl. There are also some "generic" sellers of hard shell cases on eBay as well.

They're all made of plastic…so there's not a large quality difference in materials. I think that if I was getting one today…I would get another one from iPearl (my wife has one). I think that it's slightly better than the Speck cases. But more importantly (for my decision)…they are less expensive than Speck (last time I checked/shopped).

I used an "InCase" hard shell case for years on my MacBook when I had it. And it did a great job of protecting the white plastic (2008 model) case. When I sold the machine I got top money for it because it looked like it was new. Not sure if InCase is still in business but I know that Speck which Nick mentioned also makes nice cases.
