Hi, hope someone can help

I have returned from 3 weeks in India with some Fab photos, and went to use my iMac 27" and I have forgotten my password, which I changed before I left, so my son would not mess around on my machine whilst I was gone !!! .. that will teach me.

Spoke to Apple and they said there was nothing I could do without my operating systems disk.

I don't appear to have these, as the machine was set up by an Apple dealer Jigsaw, who were very good, but they don't seemed to have given me the disks.

As it is a bank holiday long weekend, I was hoping to edit and look at a lot of my photos over the weekend, but I can't get into my mac

We did try something where you start the machine with the CMD and S key depressed, and then we got into the Root, and we saw that there were 2 logins, one for Debbie and one for Lloyd ... a friend who used my machine one.

Is there anyone out there technical in the UK or overseas who can help me, as otherwise I will have to wait 4 days until the reseller is open again.

Thanks in advance for any help ....

I am IT literate, but not a techie !!! LOL :)

Thanks
Debs

Something is definitely not right here.

iMac 27" are pretty new, so you bought it new I presume ... and you're saying you did not receive discs with the machine?? I wonder what else you're missing, as the iMac comes with a bunch of stuff (nothing terribly valuable beyond those discs, but still).

I'd be on the phone to this "Jigsaw" store straight away to get those disks retrieved. As you've discovered, they are vital to certain situations (and besides, you paid for them!). In the meantime, check the box the machine came in.

Plus 1 for what chas_m said.

I would do as Chas_m has suggested and check the box the machine came packed in. The Snow Leopard DVD set is included in a small folder along with a somewhat abbreviated instruction manual. You may have overlooked them.

If you really feel daring and don't mind doing some fiddling around, you can try this to get around your password:

Unscrew the access cover that holds the memory modules. Remove just one module and reboot the computer. You should be able to get in without a password. Once in, change the password to something you can remember. Replace the removed module and reboot back to normal.

Regards.
