That was my immediate thought but not wanting to offend anyone I chose not to comment. Your comment is very much appreciated. That said I have some very good news to report. I tried all the many suggestions offered but none of them seemed to work. Then, with absolutely no idea of what I was doing, I solved my problem. To refresh everyone's memory, I have two EHDs, one for digital storage (iMovie, iPhoto, etc) and a second I bought to backup via Time Machine. After setting this all up I believe I was told through this forum that Time Machine backs up the Mac only and not other EHDs. Even so, in desperation I looked at the backups and saw my G1 drive listed (including iPhoto) so went back pre problem, clicked restore and, after an eternity the files were restored including keywords and other features that had apparently disappeared. I have no idea why this worked but would rather have them back in ignorance than lose them and know why. I find this forum an invaluable tool and it has solved many problems (not all) for me. I suppose analysis of my issues are more complicated because I am far behind most of you experts in operating system, iPhoto versions, etc but I sincerely appreciate the dedication and generous help offered by the community. I doubt Windows has anything comparable Thank you all poppi
