Lost 3- and 4-Finger Trackpad Features

I recently realized that my MacBook Pro is no longer sensitive to 3- and 4-finger features. I have tried going into SysPref and deactivating the settings, closing SysPref, then reopening and activating the settings. Does anyone have any idea why this would happen and how I could fix it? Thanks.
