Hey Fellow Mac users
I have a very peculiar problem that my google-ing has not been able to solve...
Whenever I connect my Macbook Pro to my Toshiba REGZA 32" LCDTV I loose Wi-Fi connection. I have absolutely made sure that the this problem only occurs when I connect to the tv.
I have also connected another Macbook Pro, although the exact same make and model, and the same thing happens.
I have not yet tried connecting to another tv, (that wouldn't really solve my problem anyway...) and not tried to connect to the internet via ethernet cable since I don't have a long enough cable.
The funny thing is that the Wi-Fi icon stays at full strength yet I can't browse, downloads stop and there is no internet...
My Macbook Pro:
Mac OSX Lion 10.7.2
Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 8GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 M
Startup Disk : 115 OWC SSD
Network Card: AirPort Extreme (802.11a/b/g/n)
As you can see from the specs my Mac is from mid-2010.
I have 100GB Fiber Optic connection and using Airport Extreme 2nd Generation to spread my Wi-Fi.
The cable I use is a basic HDMI cable connected to a HDMI to DVI converter, which is then connected to my Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter.
As you can see from the specs my Mac is from the line before the one that came out earlier this year.
I have absolutely no idea what could be causing this but I give these elaborate information about my setup to help with identifying the problem.
I think the most likely culprit is my Airport Extreme Base station since before I got it I used one Macbook Pro to setup a wi-fi and connected another to the tv and watched the "Let's talk Iphone" keynote...
Anyone experience the same thing or knows what could be causing it?
All suggestions are welcome and many thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Bragi
