Bad graphics maybe? The 15" MacBook Pro from that era was prone to having or developing a bad GPU which meant the entire logic board has to be replaced.</p><p></p><p>You also need to be aware that any logic board you buy is going to be a refurbished one which may mean the GPU was "oven cooked" to get it working again. You may be better off putting the 2011 on the shelf and look for a new or newer machine. That's up to you. Several parts suppliers below.
