Logic Board Replacement 820-2565-A

Greetings,

I have a MacBook Pro 15-inch Early 2011 - 2.3 Ghz Intel Core i7. After taking it to the local Apple Store, I was told I need a new Logic board and they do not offer a replacement. The computer uses an 820-2565-A Logic Board. Does anyone have a suggestion where to purchase a replacement?

I'm surprised an Apple Store even agreed to diagnose your 15" early 2011 MacBook Pro since it's considered vintage by Apple. I guess you got lucky.

To answer your question about the logic board, the best place might be to get on eBay and look for one there. There are other Mac parts suppliers that you can inquiry of but they are usually going to be expensive and the logic board they sell likely has been refurbished.

Do you know what the problem was with your current logic board? Bad graphics maybe? The 15" MacBook Pro from that era was prone to having or developing a bad GPU which meant the entire logic board has to be replaced.

You also need to be aware that any logic board you buy is going to be a refurbished one which may mean the GPU was "oven cooked" to get it working again. You may be better off putting the 2011 on the shelf and look for a new or newer machine. That's up to you. Several parts suppliers below. Good luck.
