I now have to sign in on my Mac Desktop after it boots up. I wish to remove having to sign on - how?

Open System Preferences, Security & Privacy, General Tab. Click on the small lock and enter your Admin password. After the lock opens, make the appropriate changes to your login.

@frank.palmer It might be better not to automatically log into an administrator account. Doing so gives anyone sitting at the computer access to administrative functions such as installing software without entering a password.

Here's a quick fix that gets all the convenience of no password without some of the potential security hassles:

1. Log into your current account as usual if you're not already there.
2. Create a second account and make it an administrator account.
3. Log out of your current account and into the newly created administrator account.
4. Downgrade your original account from administrator to standard. Make sure to change the setting in the security and privacy preference pane to allow login without a password.

Now you can use your original account without having to enter a login password. When you need to enter a password to do something such as install software enter the username and password for the other account.

If we're talking about a home computer here, there shouldn't be a need to have a non-administrator account. Just make the rules clear to everyone who lives there.
