I am looking for a way to lock my folders so that they cannot be deleted by accident. I would like to select the "Locked" box but it is greyed out. Is there a way of turning this on ?

You can't lock folders that you don't own. When you go to get the info of the folder you're trying to lock, look at the bottom of the Info window and you'll see "Ownership & Permissions". You'll have to click the black arrow beside "Details" and change the owner to your user name. THEN you can lock the folder.
