Ok. I have my new rMBP and, despite anticipatory anxiety, am loving it. But I'm missing the Kensington lock on my old machine. I sometimes work in libraries and I'd far rather leave my computer at my desk than take it with me when I need to go out for a break. Has anyone found a satisfactory security system? I'd rather not glue or bolt anything on to this...

I have seen the ones that lock into the Ethernet jack, but I think those are more to keep honest people honest rather than be totally secure. Might be worth checking out. Personally, if I spent that kind of money on a nice machine, I would take it with.

Even a Kensington cable will not prevent theft ... nothing can prevent theft. If someone wants your Mac, they will grab it, with or without a Kensington cable.
Just make sure that you activate a few soft controls like a pasword protected screen saver, that a log on requires you to select a user and type a password etc .....
Enable Find My Mac on your device to help you locate the device in the event it is stolen.

Cheers ... McBie

I agree with the previous posts. Macs, especially MacBook Pro notebook computers are among the most stolen items from libraries, coffee shops, dorm rooms, and on and on. Unless you have your personal Doberman Pincher dog guarding your rMBP when you take a bathroom break, take the machine with you to the John. ;D

He's lying in wait Nick.

Eyes open and on the MBP sitting on the end table other end of the couch just waiting to pounce.
