Hey all. I have 2 iMacs, a new one (G7) and an old G5. I want to put 10.5 on my G5. I don't have any 8GB DVD's so I thought I might aswell use my 160GB iPod.

How can I do this? I've tried in DiskUtill, but no luck. Can someone go through this step by step with me?

There is no such animal as a G7.

What is it you need a 8GB DVD for?

You've tried what in Disk Utility?

I think he wants to essentially over-write the contents of his iPod's storage with the ISO, with the thought that it would be like making a bootable USB stick.

MacREDDs, this would render your iPod useless, as the device's own OS, which is hidden in the filesystem, would be destroyed when you restore the ISO to the iPod's storage.

Why do you need to copy it to a DVD or put it on your iPod?

If you have purchased a copy of Leopard, pop that DVD into the G5 and install it.

If you're saying you have downloaded a pirated copy of Leopard and want to install it, I'd suggest you purchase your own copy. You'll not get help here for pirating. When you're looking for one, you'll want the black retail disc of Leopard. The gray discs that you'll find all over ebay, are the discs that ship with Macs will not work except on a system the same as the one it shipped with.
