LCD Cleaning Fluid

I was using some of that Belkin LCD cleaning fluid today, and I noticed the only listed ingredient was Isopropyl Alchohol, aka Rubbing Alchohol. is this to suggest that common rubbing alchohol (91% of course) will clean my screen and not damage it?

I personally wouldn't use alcohol on an LCD screen, but I suppose it would be OK. Just be sure to never apply it directly to the screen. Spray it on a damp cloth first, then use the cloth to clean the LCD.

I find that good old H2O works best for me though.

For cleaning delicate surfaces that are not too dirty ----
-- Gently brush or blow off dust / dirt ----- this is the stuff that will cause scratches

-- Use 1 - 2 drops of Ivory dish soap per gallon of warm water - the water will moisten the stuck on gunk --- the small amount of soap will act as a dispersant to the gunk

Alcohol is ok. Don't use anything with ammonia in it. Like most glass cleaners. Some glass cleaners are ammonia free, you should read the label before using.

what i've used all the time are lens cleaners for glasses. i don't know where my rents got it, but i have a huge box of prepackaged single sheet lens cleaners for your glasses. i'm pretty sure it doesn't have any amonia in it and it's worked really well for me. they're dirt cheap and you could probably get a huge box at sam's club or something.

Most of the time, I use plain water and a soft towel. Works well unless you have some kind of oil residue on there.
